Owen Leeper
Born and raised in Aspen, skiing has been a lifelong passion.
I clicked into my first pair of skis at four, and my love for adventure and air only grew as I began to explore everything from natural jumps to the intense terrain parks that emerged in my middle school years. Moving to Ouray, Colorado at nine brought new terrain in Telluride, and by the time I was back in Aspen for high school, I was spending most of my free time (and maybe a few school days) on the snow.
My next few years were spent studying Business at the University of Colorado Boulder, while also competing in half-pipe and slopestyle events back on the mountain, honing my skills and embracing the thrill of competitive skiing. With my degree in hand, I returned to Aspen—but my quest for new challenges led me to Jackson Hole in 2013.
Now, my winters are spent pushing the limits at Jackson Hole, sending cliffs, straightlining intense chutes, and exploring couloirs both in and beyond the resort boundaries. I’ve been fortunate to ski across the globe—from the powdery slopes of Japan and Canada to the stunning terrains of South America, New Zealand, and Europe. When I’m not at the resort, I’m off on ski mountaineering adventures, climbing to hidden peaks with ice axes and crampons to find the most elusive lines.
Jackson Hole offers some of the most exhilarating in-bounds terrain anywhere, with a playground of cliffs, couloirs, and winding tree runs for skiers of all kinds. But the real treasure lies just beyond the boundaries. With only a 30-minute hike, you can step into some of the finest lift-accessed backcountry skiing in the lower 48. One of my all-time favorite lines is just a short distance through the sidecountry gates—a perfect mix of adventure and untouched powder. Each line out here is more than just a descent; it’s a journey into some of the most thrilling backcountry experiences Jackson Hole has to offer.
Join me to experience the world of backcountry skiing, where each line is an invitation to conquer new heights.
Find me skiing as early as October and well into July most years.
After the lifts close, I take my skis and head towards bigger peaks and couloirs. I’ve tackled most of the iconic peaks in the Teton range, including the Grand, Middle, and South Tetons, Mount Moran, Buck Mountain, and countless other legendary lines. Each ascent and descent brings a rush that only the wild backcountry can deliver.
